The bridge of any song is very important for it’s arrangement. It helps to move the song forward and climax, while at the same time creating a transition between the song’s verse, pre-chorus and hook. In this episode, we examine the track’s bridge, both in terms of our vocal production techniques and also our musical arrangement of the song. “Lekker Jy” also features the magnificent talents of Neo-Soul/Jazz vocalist, Ms Lenda.
Music & Vocal Production
As we have seen in previous videos, “Lekker Jy” features male as well as female lead vocals. In this video, we explain our technique for producing Ms Lenda’s bridge vocals. Next, we look at how we arranged for Jerome to trade-off vocals with her in the bridge. Lastly, we show you how we incorporated a bass groove and piano “octave runs” to accentuate the 90s vibe of the song.
